6.4 Adding Task Title and Description to a task template
The Task Description is the information the user sees in the Tasks list in the Zegeba app; the Task title and the information in grey below it:
The description contains the information we would like to add for each task issued by this task template. It is filled in in the Create New Task screen in the Dashboard and shows in the Dashboard’s list of tasks:
In the app the data filled in displayed in the Tasks list and the Details. Typical types of meta data are: Date, Project name, Customer, Site, Work type, etc.
In the Task Template editor’s 4 – Task Description tab you define the information that will be shown to the user.
- In the Task title you can enter text as well as parameters from the Task Properties and Meta Data lists to the right
- The Task Properties are commonly used properties in task descriptions
Version shows the version of the task. 1 is the very first version of the task and then the number increases every time someone fills in a form in the task, changes the state or the task details
State shows the present task state
Creator shows the latest user to make one of the changes mentioned above
Date Created/Modified shows the dates the task was created and last modified - Meta Data lists the fields you have defined in the Meta Data tab
- In both Task title and Task Description:
place the cursor in the field and click on parameters from Task Properties and Meta data to add them to the place where the cursor is situated.
Use dividing characters (such as spaces or “-“) or explanatory texts if needed for clarity’s sake, such as “- Project:”
The Task Description tab for the example in the two pictures at the top looks like this:
When the Task Property State was added to the Task Description, it was automatically converted to ${state}.
When the Meta Data Project name was added to the Task Title, it was automatically converted to ${meta.projectName} and we added – Project: in front of it. And so on.
If your company uses contexts (see Managing: 7.0 Managing contexts), you can from Zegeba v 32.9 onwards add a Context Meta Data parameter here, on the form ${contextMeta.<context ID}. For instance, if the name of a country is set in the context, you can inherit this to the title of tasks in this context by adding to the task template title ${contextMeta.country}.
