4.7 Import of Word forms

The Word Importer, accessed form the [Import] button in the Form Templates screen, will give you a kickstart when creating new Zegeba forms. It now takes just a few seconds to create a Zegeba form with elements corresponding to all the text, pictures and tables that exist in the Word document.

If you don’t add any special Import annotations to the document, its texts will be converted to individual Text Label elements in Zegeba. You can then in the Designer change element types and adjust other element properties to suit your needs. If you add Import annotations such as {NUMBER} to the Word document you can streamline the process further, for instance creating exactly the element types you need during the initial import. See Designing: 4.7.2 Lists of document import annotations.

Some of our customers need to digitalize thousands of existing forms when they first start using Zegeba, and we have developed quite advanced import functionality to accommodate this. One example of this is Import Templates, helping you for instance to reuse long lists of employees, spare parts, etc. See Designing: 4.7.3 Create an import template.

Do you have forms in other formats that you’d like to import into Zegeba? See Designing: 4.7.4 Import a form from other document formats for tips on what you can do if your forms are in PDF or Excel format.

Note that the Importer will import the structure of the Word form, not the actual data captured in it.
