Release notes: Zegeba v 4.8

All, Release Notes

Note! The software on our customers’ Zegeba servers are upgraded individually to new versions according to the setup and requirements of each customer. Your server version number can be found in the About options in the Next app and the Dashboard. Most Zegeba servers will now be upgraded to 4.8 from 4.6 but if your server was upgraded from an earlier version than 4.6, please read the Release Notes before 4.8, too. They are available through the category “Release Notes” in the side menu here to the right.

New features, improvements and bugfixes in 4.8

In the App
  • When you open a dropdown list, it has a new search field on top so it’s easier to find the list item you’re looking for.

  • As requested by users, the buttons on the Summary page ([Save and Close], [Cancel], etc.) have more space between them to make users less likely to press the wrong button when working on phones.

  • A task report’s form state is no longer indicated by a colored dot, but a colored vertical bar (the same as in the Forms section of the app), and you can point to it to see the name of the state. See Using: 3.6 Viewing and editing existing data.

  • The list of data in the Forms module has been paginated, meaning you can choose to show just 10, 20, or 50 reports at a time before you skip to the next page of reports. This will improve the usability as well as shorten the sync time.

  • When you press a [Save] button, you will now get a message stating that the data is saved – as a new edit of the report.

In the Dashboard
  • In Data Views, the default date format has changed from e.g. 24/12/31 to 31/12/24, but users can change this to suit their personal preferences. See Managing: 9.3 Find data in the Data Views screen.

  • You can now search for Data IDs in Data Views with the search string id:

  • In Users, there’s a new user role, called Data Viewer, meant for e.g. external parties who should only be able to view a report but not edit it. See Managing: 3.3 User roles.

  • Settings has now been divided into three categories; Global, Layout, and Database Access, and more will come in future Zegeba versions. See Managing: 2.3 Settings in the Dashboard.

  • The purple side menu is now collapsible via the little arrow near the Zegeba logo in the top left corner. See Managing: 2.2 The Dashboard menu.

  • Just as in the app, you can now press [Save] when you have captured data in the Dashboard, and the data will be saved as a new edit.

  • When you have opened in read-only mode a data capture where the Summary page has been removed and replaced by Action elements for [Save and Close], [Cancel], etc., there is now an ‘X’ cancel button in the upper right corner of the form that you can use to exit the capture.

  • If your company want other, and perhaps stricter, requirements for passwords used to access Zegeba, we can now customize these requirements for you. Contact Zegeba Support if you want more information on this.

  • NEW!  When a data collector has created a data capture and another user has edited it, the data collector will still be able to see the capture in their Data Views screen.

In the Designer
  • When a repeat is filled with new entries you can now sort them in reverse order, with the last entry on top, or by any element in the repeat. See Designing: 6.5.2 Repeat table sorting.

  • To help with testing calculations, rules or validations, you can now disable them temporarily. See Designing: 5.1 Rules (branching/skip formulas).

  • Multimedia URLs are now relative – they do not contain the name of the server. This makes it much easier to move form designs from e.g. a test server to a production server – you do not have to change each URL manually. See Managing: 4.6 Export and import of Zegeba forms and folders.

  • Dropdown lists in Single Select and Dynamic list elements now have by default a search field on top of the list. You can switch this off in the setting “Hide Search functionality” in the element’s Other tab.

  • Element IDs now have a default length of 60 characters. This will apply even to existing form templates, and will prevent yellow error messages due to ID lengths when copying forms and form elements.

  • Edits to Dynamic lists in Resources will now be updated in the app at the next sync, so you will not have to wait for the next edit of the form design to see the new list in the app. See Designing: 4.6 Dynamic lists.

  • The items in the Other Property tab’s Audit Info section have been rearranged to improve usability. See Designing: 6.1.1 The main Form element’s Other tab.

  • When saving a form design, you will now very rarely get a message of conflict with the version on the server.

  • Clickable Image Areas will now function also with automatic IDs.

  • You can now send data as parameters in links to other forms again, as described in Designing: 6.6 Links / Go to / Actions.

  • The setting “Reapply rules, validations and calculations when loading existing data” now works as expected, also on PDFs sent with email notifications.

  • NEW!  In a Tab Group, the active tab will be white or the color it has been styled to, while passive tabs will always be grey

In Tasks
  • In the Task Template Editor’s State tab, you can now for states set user assignments and email notifications to be selected for each individual task from the list of users on the Zegeba server. This will greatly expand the usability of tasks, as you can select different users to be assigned or notified for each task you create. See Managing: 6.2.1 Assigning users or emails for task states during task creation.

  • The Task Template Editor has two new settings: Hide Task Attachment section and Hide Bulk PDF button. See Managing: 6.6 Defining Settings for a task template

  • When a task report is copied and its meta data values changes, these values will also change in the task title and description. See Using: 4.7 Copying a task form report.

  • In tasks with form filtering – where you select the forms for each task created – unpublished forms are no longer listed as selectable.

In PDFs
  • When printing repeat tables with many rows, the row number column is now wider to accommodate higher numbers.

… and we have also implemented many other technical and performance improvements boosting the power of the Zegeba platform!

Note! If the new Zegeba version has just been installed on your server and you are using Zegeba in a browser, you may have to press Ctrl-F5 (in Windows) or Cmd-Shift-R for Refresh (on Macs) in the Dashboard or the Designer to get the new features. This forces the browser to download the latest Zegeba version from the server instead of displaying the version stored in its memory cache. But even if you don’t press this, the new features will show up the second time you open the Dashboard/Designer after the new version has been installed.
