Installation on customer servers
The Zegeba platform is continually enhanced and expanded based on the requirements and wishes of our customers. We issue new software upgrades every few months, and these are announced by mail directly to our customers and here in the Help Center, in the Release Notes section.
After the announcement, the new version is installed on all customer servers over the next weeks, as arranged individually with each customer. For many customers this is done quite quickly, with just a few minutes of server downtime. Some larger customers need more specific arrangements, with the installation being done late in the evening and requiring perhaps half an hour of downtime.
Version numbering
Usually a new Zegeba version contains a limited amount of changes from the previous version, and the version number is changed from e.g. 3.23 to 3.24. At other times, the versions released to customers will skip several “notches”, such as go directly from 3.24 to 3.29. This is because the versions in between – 3.25, 3.26, 3.27, 3.28 – were either “internal” releases used for development and testing by the Zegeba staff, or versions installed on just one customer server to fix a specific issue for that customer. Version 3.29 will be followed by version 4.0, as this is a major upgrade of the main architecture of the Zegeba platform.
Minor releases
In addition to these general releases, we sometimes issue minor releases labeled 3.29.1, 3.29.2, etc. These versions generally contain just one, or a few, specific improvements or bug fixes, and are not announced to the customers before installing on their servers.
How to find the number of your version
The server version is found in the About screen in the Dashboard, shown in the top picture on this page. The Next app is sometimes upgraded separately from the server version, so you may find a different number at the bottom of its sidebar, see picture above. At the time of writing, the server version displayed in the Dashboard is 3.29.2 and the app version in Next is 3.29.7, which means that the Next app has had more minor upgrades than the server. The “native” version number also displayed in the Next app on devices is the number of the “backbone” of the app. This rarely changes, and is at present 1.1.0.
