FAQ: Can I Use Emojis and Other Design Characters in Forms?

Published:
Updated:

Yes and no. Here’s what you need to know:

In PDFs:

  • Emojis will not be printed on PDFs.
  • On PDFs, only characters from the Roboto font (available here) and some basic UNICODE characters (like ™, ©, and ❶) are supported.
  • Test printing is recommended to check which characters work for your needs.

In the Form Designer and Apps:

  • You can paste emojis into element labels or page icons within the form designer.
  • Test the emojis in the apps on relevant mobile devices, as they may not display correctly on all systems.
  • Users filling out the form can use emojis in text input fields, and these will generally show on-screen, but will not appear on the PDF.
