3.1 The Hierarchy Of Elements
The main Form element at the top has Pages as subelements.
Page elements has as subelements all other elements for questions, grids, layout, etc.
Grids has as subelements Rows that are autonumbered.
Each Row may contain from 1 to 12 cells as subelements.
Each cell must contain an element.
When you click on an element in the Elements panel, the selected element will turn purple. This also goes for the Form element at the very top (see “Maintenance checklist” in the picture above).
If an element has subelements, you can double-click on its name in the Elements panel to hide its subelements. E.g. double-clicking on a page will hide all the elements in it. Double-clicking it once more will open the page again.
The layout you create by placing elements in a specific order determines the order they will appear in the form.
It’s worth noting that elements like repeats will have a dynamic size. This means that the size of the element depends on the amount of data entered.
As a result, not all elements placed on a single page in the designer may fit on a single page in a PDF.
