Preview an Activity as an End User
Preview as is a switch in an activity's info popover that shows the activity the way an end user meets it in the app, without leaving the dashboard. It is there for support work: seeing what somebody else sees, rather than guessing at it.

Before You Start
- Open an activity in the Activity Details drawer: double-click its row in the Activities view, or choose Edit from the row's ⋮ menu. See Activities.
- Read the section below on what each mode does before you switch. End user is not a safe, look-only mode: the product warns that the activity's state can change while you are in it.
Steps
- In the drawer's header, select the ⓘ icon, to the left of the close button. The info popover opens.
- Preview as sits at the top of the popover, with two options. Admin (you) is selected every time the drawer opens.
- Select End user. The note under the switch turns amber and reads "Showing what an end user sees. Template logic is running and can change the activity state."
- Select Admin (you) to go back. The note returns to "Template logic is paused. The activity state stays as you set it."
The switch changes what the drawer shows you. It does not change who you are signed in as, and it does not save anything on its own.
What each mode does
Admin (you) is how the drawer always opens. The template's logic is paused, so a state you pick stays where you put it and nothing moves under you while you work.
End user runs the template's logic the way the app runs it for the person doing the job. That is what makes the preview worth having, and it is also the thing to be careful about: the product says in as many words that the state can change while the mode is on. Switch back to Admin (you) when you have seen what you came to see.
The popover carries three other things regardless of the mode: the context the activity sits in, who last updated it and when, and who created it and when.
States the app does not offer
The drawer's state list explains itself. A state the template holds back from the app is labelled Disabled in App underneath its own description, so you can see which states an end user will never be offered without leaving the drawer.
FAQs
Does switching to End user change the activity?
The switch itself saves nothing. What changes is that the template's logic starts running, and the product's own note says that can change the activity's state. Treat it as a mode to look in and leave, not one to sit in while you work.
Does the preview stay on when I close the popover or the drawer?
The drawer opens in Admin (you) every time, so a preview never carries over to the next activity you open.
Does it show me another person's permissions?
No. It previews what an end user meets in the app for this activity. It is not a way to test one named colleague's access, and it does not change your own.
