Context Tree View

Published:
Updated:

The Context Tree View provides a single place to browse a context and everything inside it—its sub-contexts, activities, and entries. A separate Tree View is created for each context type (e.g., Vessels, Services). You can open it from Views or from the context’s hover/row menu when that context type is visible in the side menu.

Steps

  1. Open the context type list
Go to Views → Contexts → (e.g., Vessels). You’ll first land on a table listing all contexts of that type.

  2. Open a specific context
From the table: double-click the row, or right-click → Open to launch the Context Tree View for that context.

  3. Explore the Context Tree
You’re now in the new Tree View. The left-most structure shows the context hierarchy; each node expands to reveal Activities and Entries contained within it.

  4. Use per-row actions
Click the action button (⋯) on any row—or right-click—to see everything you can do for that item. Available actions vary by type.

  5. Adjust columns & row height
Use the Settings button (top-right). Choose which data fields appear in each row and set the Row Height (e.g., Extra Small). Settings are saved per context type, so you can keep different setups for Vessels vs Services.

  6. Filter & search
Apply Quickfilters (e.g., State, Creator, Context) and use the Search field to find the data you need quickly. You can combine filters to narrow the tree.

  7. Navigate back to the list
Use the breadcrumb/back control at the top of the view to return to the table of all contexts for that type.

FAQs

  1. What is the Context Tree View?
It’s a per-type view that shows a context together with all its sub-contexts, activities, and entries in one expandable tree.

  2. How do I open it?
Go to Views → Contexts → , then double-click a context row or right-click and choose Open. You can also open it from the row hover/⋯ menu wherever the context appears.

  3. Why do actions differ between rows?
Actions depend on the row type (Context vs Activity vs Entry) as well as your permissions and the context’s state. Use the row’s ⋯ menu or right-click to see what’s available for that item.

  4. Can I customize columns and row height?
Yes. Click Settings (top-right) to choose fields and Row Height. These settings are saved per context type so you can have different layouts for Vessels, Services, etc.

  5. Does this replace the All Contexts table?
No. The All Contexts table helps you browse and open a context. The Tree View is for working inside a single context once opened.

  6. I don’t see my context type in the left menu—why?
The type may not be configured to be visible in the side menu or you may lack permissions. Ask an admin to enable visibility for that type or to grant you access.

  7. Can I quickly find items deep in the tree?
Yes. Use Search and Quickfilters (e.g., by State or Assignees) to narrow results; expand nodes as needed.
