2.6 Previewing Forms
The right-hand panel in the Designer is a powerful tool for previewing your forms while you are designing them. You can turn this preview Off and On by selecting View – Hide Preview and then View – Show Preview.
From the Preview menu above the Preview panel, you can
- Select the Zoom ratio of the view, between 10% – 200%.
- Select a phone, tablet or screen size for the preview. Default is Responsive, which means the preview will adjust to the screen you’re presently working on.
- Press the Printer button to create a PDF file of the form, ready to be printed.
- Press the Pause/Play button to stop or restart refreshing the preview while you’re working.
- Press the crosshair button to turn Click to find element on and off. From a 4.13 patch.
Jump from the Preview to an element
Click to find element takes you from a field in the Preview straight to that element in the Elements panel, instead of hunting for it. Available from a 4.13 patch.
Turn it on with the crosshair button above the Preview. Point at a field and it is outlined, with its Element ID on a label. Click it and the Elements panel scrolls to that element and selects it, ready to edit. Groups can be picked as well as single fields.
To use it without turning the toggle on, hold Option (Mac) or Alt (Windows) and click. It works while the key is held down.
You can add signatures, images or attachments to the form in Preview. These elements are only added for display purposes and will not be saved anywhere.
Note: Some of the form level parameters described in Designing: 6.4 Description Formula will only take effect during actual data capture.
